We’re engaged! 6 Tips to help with wedding planning
First of all, CONGRATU-FLIPPIN-LATIONS! I don’t think there’s any better feeling than knowing you’re going to marry your fave weirdo. Being in that newly engaged bubble, everyone's excited for you, prosecco is flowing and you get to plan your DREAM day... But where do you begin?? Stay tuned for a few (maybe obvious, but helpful) tips and tricks to get yourself organised in the planning process.
Tip Numero Uno - Get yourself a pretty planning book.
Who needs an excuse to buy cute stationery? Not me. But believe it or not, I have a few friends currently planning their wedding that haven't bought a wedding planning book and as a consequence are struggling to keep themselves organised.
Your wedding planner helps you to keep your ideas, vendor details, to-do's, guest lists (and so much more) all in one pretty book. It was super helpful when we got married for keeping my scatty brain a little more Amy Santiago and a little less Jake Peralta (Hello 99 fans).
Try to look out for one that has a monthly checklist and give you a rough plan of what you should be doing when. There's nothing worse than having to pay more for a rush order!
Tip number two - Set a clear budget.
Apparently, a whopping 40% of weddings go over budget, easily done when there are so many cute wedding-related things to buy! Setting a clear budget not only allows you to steer clear of your overdraft, but it also helps narrow down the things you REALLY want and the things you're not too bothered about.
Try out some budget planning apps like 'bride book' to help you calculate a realistic budget! And of course, make yourself a sexy spreadsheet with all of your costings and outgoings on (boring but satisfying!).
Tip number 3 - How many guests? ish
This doesn't need to be exact but it'll come in super handy when you get to choosing a venue! Looking at venues that will ensure you can fit all of your fave people and have enough space to crack out those classic dance moves is a must!

Tip number 4 - What are your priorities?
Sitting down with your future husbae at the beginning of planning your wedding and figuring out together what your biggest priorities are is super important. What do you and your fiance really want on your special day? Is it Thai food? A super cool ceilidh band? the biggest dessert stand you've ever seen?
Finding out what's important to your other half will not only help you understand each other's wants and needs but also help with keeping you inside your budget by skimping and saving on the bits that aren't super important to you.
Tip number 5 - Pick your season
When you envision your wedding day, what season do you picture? Rich autumnal colours? A spring garden wedding? Choose your season and be flexible with dates, this will give you more options when choosing venues and also make it cheaper depending on date and time of year!

Tip number 6 - Enjoy yourself.
Last but not least (I think the most important one) remember this is YOUR special day, something you'll do once in your life. Make sure you enjoy the journey of planning your wedding and try to take the stress out of it.
